The Tragedy of Crystal Lake – by William Case

William L. Case came to Benzonia, Michigan around 1860. As one of the area’s pioneers, his historical writings are drawn largely from memory and as such are authentic. Among the most widely read accounts written by Mr. Case is the story of the lowering of Crystal Lake in 1873. The story first appeared in serial form in The Benzie Record in 1922 – these articles were later compiled into this book.
