Now that spring has arrived, construction has resumed on the Archibald Jones Historical Research Center (AJHRC) project. Recently, workers completed the foundation work, including footings and concrete walls. Next up will be the concrete floor and soon they should be framing the walls and roof. We will add more photos as work continues!!
The new AJHRC will offer expanded space for our Benzie Archives and a new Research Library. Also included will be a new Exhibit Hall where we will feature the story of Archibald Jones and the Lowering of Crystal Lake in 1873. This event had a major impact on Benzie County, leading to rapid development of our area, including the Village of Beulah, the Ann Arbor Railroad, and new resorts along the shores of Crystal Lake.
The AJHRC is an exciting project for the museum and for our community! Thank you for your support!!
