This presentation by Andy Bolander was originally offered on August 12, 2021, as part of the Benzie Area Historical Society’s Benzonia Academy Lecture Series.  Due to audio recording issues, we have re-recorded Andy’s presentation, which is now featured in the link below.

In this lecture, Andy discusses the conversion of the car ferries to diesel.  He also covers the transfer of control of the Ann Arbor Railroad to the state of Michigan and the cessation of the car ferry service.  Many images from the Historical Society’s archives, including those of the car ferries Arthur K. Atkinson, Viking and City of Green Bay, have been included in this presentation.
