Thursday, August 12, 7:00 p.m.

The Benzonia Academy Lecture Series is back live this month with a sought-after  lecturer and a popular topic: trains and car ferries. The Ann Arbor Railroad: The Diesel Era 1958-1982 will be presented by Andy Bolander. This live presentation is offered as part of the Benzie Area Historical Society’s Benzonia Academy Lecture Series.

One of our most popular lecturers, Andy Bolander will be presenting a look at the car ferries of the Ann Arbor Railroad during its Diesel Era on Thursday, August 12, at 7 p.m. in Robinson Hall at the Frankfort United Methodist Church in Frankfort, Michigan.

Andy will be discussing the conversion of the car ferries to diesel. He will also cover the transfer of control of the Ann Arbor Railroad to the state of Michigan and the cessation of the car ferry service.  Many images of the car ferries Arthur K. Atkinson, Viking and City of Green Bay from the Historical Society’s archives will be included in the presentation.

This presentation is part of the Benzonia Academy Lecture Series, held on the second Thursday of each month.
