“Time Warp Thursday,”  a summer children’s program in collaboration with the Benzie Shores District Library, will be offered on June 30 and July 14 and 28 at 3:00 p.m. at the library.  The program aims to educate elementary school children about our local history in a fun, immersive experience and will be held at the Library in Frankfort.

Rachel Kuiper, a local high school senior, is leading the Time Warp Thursday series with the support of the library’s youth services coordinator, Kaitlin Matesich, and the Historical Society’s Junior Historians program.

During the first program, participants will learn about life in the day of the pioneers through hands-on activities including making butter in a jar, weaving, pretending to milk a cow and collecting chicken eggs.  Kuiper, dressed in period clothing, will read a book to the children, and they’ll be able to touch real artifacts.  Children will also learn about life in Frankfort and the surrounding area in the mid-1800s.

Time Warp Thursdays will be offered at the Benzie Shores District Library on Thursday, June 30, July 14, and July 21, at 3:00 p.m.
