Diamond Crossing, Benzie County’s Tenth Historical Marker

Your tour docent:  Charles Kraus, author, Thompsonville in Time A Northwest Michigan Story 1890-2021

The Benzie Historical Society is offering a walking tour of historic Thompsonville on Wednesday, July 20, at 7:00 p.m.  Chuck Kraus, author of Thompsonville in Time A Northwest Michigan Story 1890-2021, will lead the tour.  

The tour will begin at the Diamond Crossing historical marker, located across the street from Geno’s on Thompson Ave, Thompsonville.  Guests will stroll through parts of Thompsonville to view and learn the history of the original railroad depot and fountain locations as well as the Knights of the Maccabees.  Kraus will have pictures of the original sites.

Following the village tour, the tour will head out to the Day Use Park where guests will walk the road to the former dam and the path to the old turbine and bridge, the location of the pickle company.

Kraus’s recent book Thompsonville in Time will be available for sale with proceeds to benefit the Thompsonville Area Recreation Project.
