A national figure known for his support of the abolitionist movement during the Civil War, James Mitchell Ashley has significantly impacted our county and the lives we enjoy today.  Andy Bolander, BAHS historian and researcher, makes a strong case for Ashley to be honored with a statue in the attached Benzie Heritage newsletter.

Ashley’s local influence is also recognized in the redesigned Ann Arbor Railroad and Car Ferry exhibit here at the Museum.
