Our March 2021 lecture was presented by Jonnie J. Sam II, Director of Historic Preservation for the Little River Band of Ottawa Indians.
In this lecture, Sam shares a brief history and a cultural discussion on the Anishinaabek, which include the Odawa, Saulteaux Ojibwe, Potawatomi, Oji-Creek and Algonquin peoples. He also discusses cultural commonalities and slight differences that exist among the tribes.
Sam has served in a variety of posts and roles including as a post re-affirmation Court Judge, Ogema. He is currently the Director of the Historic Preservation Department and Operations Lead for the Little River Band near Manistee.
