At the Benzie Area Historical Society & Museum, we are excited to announce our partnership with the Darcy Public Library of Beulah for a stimulating new program.  We welcome you to our exciting journey through the fascinating world of Native American artifacts and archaeology! In this program, we will embark on an adventure to discover the rich history and culture of the Indigenous peoples of Northern Michigan. We will explore the past through hands-on activities, interactive lessons, and engaging discussions.

Activities May Include:

  • Difference between a paleontology/archaeology and an artifact and a fossil. Demonstrate Milo the Mammoth.
  • Artifact analysis: Students will be able to examine actual Native American artifacts, such as arrowheads, spear points, pottery, and stone tools, and discuss their significance.
  • Mock excavation: Through a simulated excavation activity, students will experience the process of uncovering artifacts and recording their findings.
  • Animal pelt activity
  • Art Activity
